Consultant locum pay could be lower in Scotland than England
Consultants working on a locum basis in Scotland are likely to be paid far less then their counterparts working across the border in England, following moves by NHS Scotland to cap locum fees charged by agencies.
Costs for agency locum doctors in Scotland exceeded £31m in 2008-9. A spokesman from NHS National Services Scotland said the move stemmed from an attempt to ensure that the service made best use of taxpayers’ money.
