Government must change immigration rules to stop doctor exodus, says BMA

The UK Border’s Agency Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) is recommending that medical degrees should once again be awarded points in the Tier 1 points based immigration system.

The BMA has taken hundreds of calls from UK-trained international doctors and medical students distressed with the prospect of having to uproot their families because of the Government's arbitrary decision to raise the bar for educational attainment from a bachelor’s degree to a master’s degree, which was taken in March.
