Urology split

Urologists are split over whether and how to restructure themselves to take account of the fact there is not enough complex surgery to justify training everyone in that aspect of the specialty’s work.

The British Association of Urological Surgeons has announced plans, under the Modernising Medical Careers reforms, to introduce two tiers of consultant – ‘office urologists’ and urological surgeons.
