    Jan Ostrowski reviews two cases involving reduction in hours and the status of patients undertaking work as part of their therapy.

    Request for a reduction in hours

    When Ms Melville, a grade F nurse in A&E, requested a reduction in working hours from 18 to 10 hours per week she was told that 16 hours was the minimum attendance requirement for a grade F in A&E. It was suggested that she could work one 10-hour shift on grade E or alternatively she could change to a bank contract....
